Notes

Charles joined the Loyal North Lancashire Regiment on the 11th September 1914 at the age of 34 
giving his occupation as a Cotton Operative. 
He was 5ft 3in and weighed 142lbs. His chest measured 36 1/2 inches. His complexion was recorded as pale, his eyes brown and hair dark brown. His religion was given as Roman Catholic. 
He transferred to the East Lancashire Regiment on the 27 October 1914.
He was discharged on the 19th January 1915 as not being likely to become an 
efficient soldier due to flat feet having served 1 year and 131 days..
