Today has been a day for news of our Myerscoughkin I havent heard from many people
for a month or two and today four contacts:
From Richard Myerscough :My dentist has past me a photo of a WW 1 war memorial at St Leonard's Church in Wortley near Sheffield and on it is a John Myerscough. I have searched the CWG database and can find no record of him.
John Myerscough died 1916 in France

From  Colin
Hello, I have recently acquired some vintage / antique horse tackle, the kind of items that would decorate the large Shire horses (brasses and straps etc). I am trying to date them, but the only clue is a small brass plated 'shield' midway down one of the leather straps that just says MYERSCOUCH (spelled with a 'C' and not a 'G') MAKERS - PRESTON. The C in place of the G could be a mistake in manufacture? I have had a look through your site (admittedly a pretty quick scan more than a search), but have been unable to find any reference to a harness maker, saddler or similar.
Do you have any record of such a maker / saddler and if so, could you provide me with possible dates.
I'll be happy to send you a photo of the makers plate for your site / records, if you like,

From a newspaper report
A new venture being taken by  Max Messier and Lauren Myerscough
"Veteran bartenders Max Messier and Lauren Myerscough are dedicated to bringing back the home bar. Using Messier’s well-honed recipes for cordials, tea concentrates and syrups developed via his consulting business for bars and restaurants in New Orleans and New York, the couple’s Cocktail & Sons syrups have taken off since the company’s launch in January"
If you are going to be in the area or see the products in your local shops,
try it and support one of our Myerscoughkin

An article in the Westmoreland News caught my eye today it has reference to houses built in
Romney Road numbers 1 & 2 built under the instruction in the will of
Mary Agnes Watkins nee Myerscough, the researcher had a couple of errors in her research
I have taken them out, she got muddled with three Simon's (easy done)
Mary Agnes was the daughter of Simon Myerscough born 1783 and died 1835
 mother was Dorothy nee Burns

Happy New Year to you All

Well we have started off 2015 with another new contact from one of our Myerscough families
We have Karen contacting us with new information regarding her son who we had missed from our ever growing family and  his two children. I am pleased to say we have added them to our list of Myerscoughs. Thank you Karen and also Jordan who contacted us as well.
Any new additions you would like added to our Database please contact me as I have mentioned before we do not list on the website the full dates of Births of living folk only the year.

The Centre is now reopened and we are busier than ever I have taken the task of Manager with a super team of 20 plus volunteers we are now open a minimum of 14-days a month to assist  researcher with their family search world-wide
The Commemoration of the start of WW1 in August has kept us busy assisting other communities in our town, finding the names of soldiers from Chorley who didn't get home after 1918.
Although we are a small market town there were a lot  of men that did not return,.
Thomas & Robert Myerscough boys were  two that did not return.
2015 is the anniversary of the Battle of Festburt which many men from Chorley were  lost, Our schools are preparing a Commemoration for that Battle which will involve a lot of school children, researching and getting to know all about the Men of Chorley in WW1
Primary schools are knitting little teddy bears  a copy of the ones the men were given before they left
the older pupils are researching individuals and are using the information they gather to make a trail around Chorley of points of interest. This year will be as busy as the last one
It will be great to have young people researching into their heritage, and learning who they are and where they came from
