Exchequers Lay Subsidy Roll 1332

 John and  Richard Mirescough of Garstang
 are mentioned in this book page 58/59 as paying taxes to King Edward 111,in his Parliament at Westminster on the morrow of the Nativity of our Lady 
in the 6th year of his reign and in the year of our Lord 1332
The money to be raised by this Taxation was intended chiefly for purpose of enabling the King to prosecute his attempt to bring Scotland and feudal subjection to England.
In his attempt he was aided by Edward Balloil who had been crowned King of Scotland
at Scone on the 27th Sept 1332 and had purported to subject the crown
​ of Scotland to that of England
