The remains of the late Mr James H Myerscough, Master Farrier,
who died on Sunday, after a long illness at the age of 46 years, were interred in Southport on Wednesday.
The Rev F Torr conducted the service at 27 Bradford Street Accrington,
where the deceased had resided for about eighteen months prior to the removal of the remains to Southport.
Mr Myerscough who was a native of Rossendale and had been in business as a
Master Blacksmith and Farrier at Accrington for many years.
His premises were at the corner of King Street and Crawshaw Street.
He was widely known in the district and was very popular in social circles.
For several years he was a member of the Accrington Amateur Operatic Society,
and assisted in the performances of 'Princess Ida', 'Veronique' and 'Tom Jones'.
He took the character of' 'Dobbin' the squire's servant in the production of 'Tom Jones'
so far back as 1908 and again in 1920 when the opera was repeated on the revival of the Amateurs' activities after the war.
The deceased was a member of the Sir William Holden Lodge of the RAOB and was connected with the Canine Club and the Burnley Road subscription Bowling Green.
Mr Myerscough had been in failing health for nearly six months.
He was a widower and leaves one daughter.
The mourners were:- Miss Lilian Myerscough (daughter), Messrs John R Myerscough and William Myerscough (brothers), Mrs Tootell, Mrs Lord, Mrs Hopkinson, Mrs Ingham, Mrs Parkunson and Mrs Benfield (sisters), Miss Thwaite, Messrs Ashworth and Beardsworth representing NMFA.
Floral tributes were sent by his sorrowing daughter,
Lilian: Brother Willie, Mrs Myerscough, Ada and Nora, Mr and Mrs T Fulcher, from all at Blackpool, Hilda, Arthur, Leonard and Ronnie, Mr and Mrs Eddie Jones, Accrington Amateur Operatic Society, Fellow craftsmen of the Accrington branch of the NMFA, Miss Thwaite, Mr James Pickup, Mr and Mrs James Barlow and family, Burnley Road Bowling Green,
the Accrington Canine WM Club,
friends at Stanley Arms Hotel, St John's Hotel, smoke room friends.
Messrs James Barlow and Sons Whalley were the undertakers.
