Joseph Julius Myerscough 1922 -2015 In Memory of Joseph J. Myerscough January 2, 1922 - May 30, 2015 Obituary Joseph J. Myerscough, 93, of Springfield, passed away late Saturday, May 30, 2015, at Regency Nursing Care. Joe was the oldest of nine children of the late Joseph and Elenora (Young) Myerscough. He was born on January 2, 1922, in Taylorville. . He went to work at a very young age. He worked as an engineer for many years on the Chicago & Illinois Midland Railroad (C&IM) retiring in 1986. He also worked and farmed some land just north of Springfield. Joseph proudly served our country in the U.S. Navy, serving in the South Pacific during WWII. Joe enjoyed watching NASCAR and professional bull riding, and working outside in his yard. Joseph married Dorothy Mudd in Maxwell, KY, on Oct. 30, 1939. They shared 74 years together until she preceded him in death in 2014. He was also preceded in death by his son-in-law, David Bryan; brothers, Gerald and Duane Myerscough; and a sister, Mary Ellen Constantin. Surviving Joseph are his children, Larry (Marilyn) Myerscough of Purcell, OK, and Judy Bryan of Springfield; five grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; brothers, Merle Myerscough of Charleston, IL, and Marion "Mike" Myerscough of Springfield; sisters: Margaret Ann Tazioli of Highland Park, IL, Theresa Wiseman of Taylorville, IL, and Carol Huber of Hillsboro, IL; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. Funeral services are under the direction of Bisch Funeral Home West, 2931 S Koke Mill Rd., Springfield, IL 62711. The family will receive guests on Friday, June 5, 2015, at the funeral home from 9 a.m. until the time of funeral service celebrated by the Rev. Jeffrey Grant at 10:30 a.m. Burial will follow at Camp Butler National Cemetery where military honors will be performed by the Inter-Veterans Burial Detail of Sangamon County and the Department of Defence.
