Notes
Percy began his military career by joining the Rifle Brigade (Regimental Number 8396)
on the 13th April 1901 at the age of 18 years 2 months. 
His trade or calling is given as a Blacksmith's Striker.
His height was 5ft 4 in his weight 115 lbs, his chest measurement 33 in.
His complexion is recorded as dark, his eyes blue and hair dark brown. 

He has a mole on his left sub clavicular region (Shoulder). 
He was discharged on the 3rd February 1903 as being 'Incorrigible and worthless'


Percy joined up again at Leeds on the 7th December 1914, aged 34, joining the 8th (Res) Battalion of the West Yorkshire Regiment (Regimental Number 3109).  
In his attestation he stated that he had had no previous army service!!!
His apparent age is 32 years 6 months, his height 5ft 6in, his chest 37 in.

He was discharged on the 18th October 1916 as being medically unfit because of 

chronic synovitus of left knee. 
The medical report states that the origin of the condition is uncertain but
 'the man states that in 1902 in South Africa he was wounded in the left knee by shrapnel casing'
Another section of the report states 'In 1902 in S Africa, whilst serving with the Rifle Brigade,

 he was wounded in the left knee by shrapnel casing, was taken to hospital at ? remained there 7 or 8 months and after that ... returned to England 6 months afterwards. 
Was discharged from the army in Feb 1903. 
Since then has worked as a
Blacksmith's Striker at Armstrong Whitards in Manchester, Clayton's (?) ..
. until he enlisted Dec 7 1914
