Notes Thomas was 24 when he died at the Somme on the 26 September 1916. He served in France from the 1st August 1915. He was gassed and wounded at Gommecourt on July 1st 1916. He was shot by a sniper and killed whilst bringing in a wounded comrade whom he had volunteered to save. He had brought his comrade to the parapet and died there just as he got back. He was buried the same afternoon. Thomas was a member of St Lawrence Chorley's Parish Institute. He was the son of Thomas Edward and Sarah Ellen Myerscough (Collinson) of 40, Brierfield Road Chorley. Thomas Myerscough was awarded the Victory Medal & British War Medal & 1915 star for service in World War Thomas enlisted 31 July 1915 and served in France Medals <Military Record Collection>
