Notes
William joined the RASC on 26th November 1914 at Aldershot. 
He was 34 years old, 5ft 71/4inches tall with a chest measurement of 38 inches. 
He was appointed Farrier Corporal/Staff Sergeant. 
He was in France from 18th September 1915 to 6th February 1917.
 He was discharged at Woolwich as being no longer physically fit for war service on the 19th June 1917 after having served 2 years and 206 days 
William had contracted Nephritis (Inflammation of the kidneys) due to exposure on active service in France, having been exposed to cold and wet. . 
His discharge papers state that he was of pale complexion, with blue eyes, and dark brown hair. 
They state ' He has been employed as a farrier, always sober and temperate, reliable and intelligent. 
He has a good knowledge of horses and horse ailments and how to treat them. 
Good power of command and tactful in his dealings with men'
