Notes
William saw military service from 1939 to 1946 World War II - Serving in France/India/Burma

He served in the Royal Army Medical Corps, 1st Battalion of the Loyal Regiment (North Lancashire) 7266271, rising to the rank of Warrant Officer Class II. 
He saw action at Dunkirk (his battalion being the last to leave the Dunkirk beaches), Labourse, France, Bruxelles, India and Burma where he received a citation 'Mentioned in Despatches'.


He left the Army in May 1947 and resumed his job as a Blacksmith at theFoundry, before continuing his trade until retirement with British Railways as a Blacksmith/Technician.
